Biology Teacher Job Description
The Biology Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in life sciences to middle or high school students.
- Plan and deliver daily lessons aligned with district curriculum and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
- Teach concepts including cell biology, genetics, evolution, human body systems, ecology, and microbiology.
- Design and implement hands-on labs, experiments, and inquiry-based activities.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs (differentiation, scaffolding, UDL principles).
- Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance learning.
- Develop and administer formative and summative assessments.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progressQualifications & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Life Sciences, Science Education, or a related field (required).
- Master’s degree in Education or Biology (preferred).
- Valid Teaching qualification is a must (Teaching diploma, ATHE, B.Ed)
- Credential Evaluation Report from a recognized agency (e.g., WES, ECE, or equivalent) — completed or in process is mandatory.
- Currently employed as a Biology Teacher in a K–12 school setting.
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience as a Biology Teacher in a school environment.
