Secondary Design and Technology teacher
The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary Design and Technology teacher to inspire and educate students in the principles and practices of Design and Technology. This role involves fostering creativity, problem-solving skills, and practical application among secondary-level students.
Key Responsibilities
- Subject Delivery: Teach their subject to students across grades 6–12 as required.
- Planning & Assessment: Responsible for planning and assessment in line with the written curriculum, including two formal exam sessions per grade level each year.
- Form Teacher/Tutor Role: Serve as a form teacher and/or personal tutor for students in grades 9–12.
- Mentorship: Mentor the assistant teacher in their journey to becoming fully qualified.
- Exam Duties: Invigilate a fair share of IGCSE and IB Diploma mock and final exams.
- Teaching Approach: Bring innovation and enthusiasm to teaching, engaging with new ideas and educational research to support learner attainment.
- Learner Development: Incorporate activities aligned with the DSB Learner Profile and Graduate Profile.
- Pastoral Care: Carry pastoral responsibilities, fostering strong and positive relationships with students and colleagues.
- Encouraging Learning: Aim to instill a love of the subject and of learning, encouraging pursuit of knowledge beyond the classroom.
- Language Responsibility: All teachers are considered teachers of language and must meet the needs of students with additional learning needs, including English as an additional language.
- Contact Hours: Maximum contracted contact hours are 40 one-hour lessons per fortnight.
What We're Looking For
- A relevant academic qualification in Design and Technology or a related field.
- A recognized teaching qualification.
- Demonstrated expertise and passion for Design and Technology subject matter.
- Prior experience teaching Design and Technology at the secondary level.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
- A commitment to fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
- Professionalism and a proactive approach to continuous professional development.
Compensation
Annual Salary: INR 700,000 - INR 800,000
