Head of foundational years Job Description
Grade: Early Years & Foundational Stage (Ages 2–6)
Curriculum: Child-centred, experiential curriculum informed by Montessori principles, SEL, movement, and maker-based learning (not board-driven, not worksheet-led)
This is a senior academic leadership role in which coordination, systems, and documentation exist in service of learning quality, not as ends in themselves.
This role is for someone who:
• Thinks developmentally, not transactionally
• Is outcome-focused, not activity-driven
• Can set and enforce standards with adults in a calm, grounded manner
• Understands early education and care as one integrated system.
• Is comfortable making decisions and being accountable for them.
Mandatory Experience: Yes — minimum 6–12 years in early childhood / foundational learning environments
Mandatory Qualification: Not Specified. Exceptional candidates with fewer years but strong judgment and leadership maturity will be considered.
Child Education: Yes (where applicable), Meals will be provided.
